AERMST: From Rehearsal Room Jam to Global Studio Project
The roots of AERMST trace back to the year 2005. What began as a casual jamming duo in Central Switzerland evolved over two decades later into an international studio project.
Back then, Cyril Bossert played guitar in the local alternative rock band Crude (which later renamed itself Marla’s Dream). Rony Speck was renting the very same rehearsal room. The two already knew each other vaguely from the neighborhood. Driven by shared musical interests, they began jamming together—classic style with guitar and drums. Over time, they wrote their own raw songs. But as life goes, priorities shifted, and the project was put on ice. But not forever.
"I often thought about finally releasing these songs. But I never really pushed it forward," Cyril says, describing the long hiatus and the ultimate rebirth of AERMST. In early 2026, things finally became concrete. Cyril took matters into his own hands and began tracking the guitars for the debut single, "Penetration Of Hate." "Luckily, we still had an old demo recording from back then, and I had mapped the song out in guitar tabs," Cyril recalls.
Since Rony had sold his drum kit in the meantime, a new drummer was needed for the recordings. Through international freelancer networks, Cyril assembled a highly talented studio lineup. Eliseo Salaverri took over the duties behind the kit: "His style appealed to me instantly." Shortly after, bassist Daniel Leonov and vocalist Gonzalo Viviani joined the ranks. "With them too, I just had a good feeling that it would fit perfectly on a musical level," Cyril explains. "Gonzalo has an absolute power in his voice that I really wanted for the tracks. And Daniel was extremely agile, fast, and above all, incredibly creative on the bass.
"The most unique aspect of this setup is that the musicians have never actually met in person. "We are a pure, international (digital) studio project. It clicked purely through the music, and I hope I can count on their services for a long time to come."
"Penetration Of Hate" bridges the gap between two eras. "Musically, the song is a legacy from that time, brought to life with today's modern tools," says Cyril. And this is just the beginning. A second single is already planned for autumn 2026, followed by an EP in 2027.
For Cyril, this closes a circle while simultaneously opening a brand-new chapter: "It feels amazing to breathe new life into these older songs. It feels like a sense of closure—and at the same time, a fresh start for completely new ideas."
